Facebook is officially under investigation by US regulators

A US regulatory agency has confirmed it is investigating Facebook's privacy practices following the Cambridge Analytica (CA) data scandal

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) was already reported to be investigating Facebook following revelations that data from 50 million users was used by a CA to profile voting patterns. With today's announcement, the FTC is making the investigation official.

"...the FTC takes very seriously recent press reports raising substantial concerns about the privacy practices of Facebook," the FTC's statement read. "Today, the FTC is confirming that it has an open non-public investigation into these practices."
